Usually, as roofers, our job is mainly to work around chimneys. While protecting them from any of the dangers that could actually come their way. They tend to be one of the more delicate parts of the roof. We really want to avoid allowing moisture to creep into them. That is something that can be relatively easy to do though as long as you have the right idea about how you are going to get it done. Flashings are not things that you can just put up around the chimney without any real purpose as to why you are doing so and expect things to just work out!
As we’ve just mentioned one of the keys to keeping chimneys in roofs essentially “safe” is to set up flashings that are actually effective in redirecting the water and moisture build-up away from chimneys. To be able to do that effectively we need to be able to plan out a proper setup. We are not the type of company that will just come in and directly start placing flashings on the roof. There has to be a proper plan and design in place. Usually, we are going to take some time to develop this!
Do All Chimneys Have To Be Treated With The Same Care?
Chimneys tend to not fare well with moisture build-up. That is why they are essentially areas that we would need to protect quite a bit more. That being said, not all chimneys are going to be as vulnerable or as delicate we do concede that. At the end of the day though, the way we see it is that we would rather be safe than sorry. So, we are going to add flashing and do everything within our power to make sure that these areas are properly taken care of. Even if your chimney can technically hold up better than others around the block.
How Do I Know That I Need Help?
You don’t necessarily have to get up on your roof to notice some of the problems that are forming. First off, you should be cleaning your chimney relatively often. Especially if it’s a chimney that you actually use. Since an unclean chimney can actually turn out to be a fire hazard. When you clean your chimney if you spot any moisture spots or mould growing those are certainly clear signs that you have a problem. If you find these you should not hesitate to give us a call!
Fixing Existing Flashing
We don’t necessarily have to come in and remove all of the flashing that is already there to set up our own. There have been many instances in the past where we have been able to repair and essentially polish up what is already in place and just put it to work. We are not the type of company that is always looking to charge you for more extensive repairs. With smaller repairs, we can change the outlook of your roofing!
